Itinerary

Day 1

The flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa (3,650 meters /11,975 feet) takes approximately 1 hour. It is a scenic journey offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan Mountain range, including Mount Everest. Lhasa connects internationally only to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

Day 2

After breakfast, begin a full-day sightseeing tour of Potala Palace and Norbulingka. Potala Palace, perched majestically on a hilltop, is a symbol of Tibet and was built by the great King Songtsen Gampo. Norbulingka, meaning "Treasure Gardent" is a serene retreat that showcases Tibet’s rich history and culture.

Day 3

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Monastery, and Barkhor Market. Located 5 km north of Lhasa, Sera Monastery is one of the city';s most picturesque monasteries. Once home to a community of over 5,000 monks, it remains a significant spiritual site.

Day 4

Embark on a scenic journey from Lhasa to Gyantse (4,000 meters /13,123 feet), a drive that takes you through stunning Tibetan landscapes. The route offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, serene valleys, and crystal-clear lakes, with notable stops along the way. You’ll pass through high-altitude terrain, with opportunities to explore traditional Tibetan villages. Upon arrival in Gyantse, visit the famous Kumbum Stupa and the Pelkor Chode Monastery, both renowned for their cultural significance and architectural beauty. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and immerse yourself in the rich Tibetan heritage before concluding the day.

Day 5

Travel from Gyantse to Shigatse (3,836 meters /12,585 feet), immersing yourself in the heart of Tibetan heritage. The drive offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, leading you to Shigatse, Tibet';s second- largest city. Once there, explore the iconic Tashilhunpo Monastery, home to the Panchen Lama, and discover its rich history and spiritual significance. Wander through the local markets, where traditional Tibetan culture is on full display, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this historic city.

Day 6

The drive offers stunning views of rugged mountains, wide-open plains, and traditional Tibetan settlements along the way. As you travel through this remote region, you'll experience the serene beauty and isolation of Tibet’s high-altitude landscape. Upon arrival in Shegar (4,300 meters/14,108 feet), take in the tranquil atmosphere of this small town, nestled within the majestic surroundings of the plateau, before continuing your exploration of Tibet’s natural and cultural wonders.

Day 7

As you journey through the rugged terrain, enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, with the mighty Everest towering in the distance. The drive takes you through high-altitude landscapes, offering a glimpse of remote Tibetan villages along the way. Upon reaching Rongbuk (4,980 meters/16,340 feet), visit the famous Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, and take in the awe-inspiring sight of Mount Everest’s base camp. This is a truly unforgettable experience, offering a closer view of the world's highest peak.

Day 8

Journey from Rongbuk to Kerung, soaking in the scenic beauty of Tibet's vast landscapes. The drive offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, expansive plateaus, and winding rivers, providing a glimpse into the rugged, untouched beauty of the Tibetan region. As you pass through remote villages and tranquil valleys, experience the serenity of this high-altitude terrain. Upon reaching Kerung (2,800 meters /9,186 feet), a charming town nestled in the mountains, enjoy its peaceful atmosphere before concluding this scenic day of exploration in Tibet.

Day 9

Embark your journey from Kerung to Kathmandu (1,400 meters /4,600 feet), marking a memorable return to Nepal after exploring the beauty of Tibet. The drive takes you through the dramatic landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau, gradually descending into the lush green hills of Nepal. As you cross the border and re-enter Nepal, enjoy the changing scenery and the transition from high-altitude terrain to the vibrant valleys. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, take in the city’s rich culture, history, and vibrant energy, completing this unforgettable journey through Tibet and Nepal.
