Optional activities include a hike to Sagarmatha National Park for a mesmerizing sunrise over Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and more. The higher Pangboche trails offer an even more pristine Himalayan view, including the Pangboche Monastery. Dingboche serves as a favored resting point for trekkers and climbers en route to Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, or Imja Tse. The village's charm lies in its picturesque landscapes, featuring fields shielded by stone walls, safeguarding crops like barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the chilly winds and grazing animals. Taking a day for acclimatization in Dingboche, we embark on day hikes to either Nagarjun Hill or Chukkhung Valley, reveling in spectacular views of Makalu, Lhotse, Chalotse, Tawache, and Ama Dablam.

The trek from Dinboche to Duglha is a short journey across a wide pass, offering a welcomed change from the straight path. The majestic Himalayas surround us at the beginning, and the valley narrows as we approach Dusa. Passing the 1953 Everest Expedition campsite, we catch sight of Mt. Pumori. Descending and curving, we say farewell to Mt. Pumori, cross a stream, and ascend to Duglha, a tiny village with a vast strand of prayer flags. Descending to the Khumbu Glacier moraine, panoramic views of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal unfold. Crossing the Khumbu Glacier reveals the presence of Mt. Nuptse. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Lobuche.

Day 10

We navigate the trail to Everest Base Camp, crossing the once expansive Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing forward, we encounter the memorials of Indian army mountaineers. The path may be confusing, so it's crucial to follow our lead Sherpa closely. The trek is demanding due to the thin air at high altitudes. Passing through rocky dunes, moraine, and streams, we eventually reach Everest Base Camp. The brightly colored tents of mountaineers stand out against the gray surroundings, especially in the spring. Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori are prominent mountains visible from the base camp. Afterward, we return to Gorak Shep for a restful night. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

Elevation: 5,364m/17,599ftt
Distance: 13 km
Hiking: 6-7 hrs
Day 11

We gear up for an early morning departure in the pre-dawn darkness and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C), often accompanied by chilly winds. As we set out, familiar peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse come into view to the east, and Everest gradually unveils itself. The highlight, however, occurs at Kalapatthar (5,545m/18,192ft), where we witness a 360-degree, up-close, and imposing view of Mt. Everest. Capturing the moment with pictures, we revel in the magnificent mountain panorama before returning to Gorak Shep for a well-deserved night's rest.

For participants heading to Everest Base Camp on this day, an early breakfast kicks off the day as the base camp hike is longer than the Kalapatthar trek. After descending to Gorak Shep, we board a helicopter for a scenic ride to Lukla. The helicopter journey offers breathtaking views, including the serene waters of Gokyo Lake, holding deep cultural significance for the Nepalese. After admiring the lake's beauty, we continue our helicopter ride to Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.
