Annapurna Region
The Mardi Himal Trek is perfect if you want a quieter, less crowded trek in Annapurna region. It is probably the least explored among the trekking peaks in Nepal. As we trek along this path toward the Mardi Himal base camp and the high camp, we can savor the quiet trails surrounded by lush forests, charming villages, terraced fields, meandering rivers, and breathtaking vistas of the Annapurna, Machhapuchre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli mountains. This route makes a small circuit up to the base camp of Mardi Himal so that we don’t have to backtrack over the same terrain.
To sum it up, the Mardi Himal trek is one of the short trek in Annapurna region. During this journey, we lodge in teahouses, savor local cuisine, enjoy the stunning hills and mountain scenery, and are captivated by panoramic vistas of the majestic Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal.

In the evening, we'll enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by AAN, featuring delicious Nepalese cuisine to introduce us to the local food culture.
During our drive to Pokhara, often called the 'City of Lakes’, we enjoy the charm of terraced farms, roadside stalls, and the lively Trishuli River. In this city, we're treated to breathtaking Himalayan sights, such as Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, and the five peaks of Annapurna. Pokhara, a popular tourist spot, also offers us a chance to unwind in the evening and relish the experience.
Following an early morning breakfast, our adventure commences with a drive to Phedi, where we begin our trek. We traverse stone steps, terraced fields, pass through villages, and wander through forests. Our journey takes us to Dhampus, where we break for lunch. From there, we carry on our walk to Deurali, a charming small village on edge offering splendid vistas of Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, and Macchhapuchhare.
Today, our journey through a dense forest adorned with vibrant red rhododendron flowers, a familiar sight in the Nepalese hills and Nepal's national flower. The path remains tranquil until we reach the Forest Camp or locally called Kokar. Here, we can take a break, unwind, and explore the surroundings.
Our trek carries us through the lush forests, allowing us to appreciate Nepal's diverse and vibrant biodiversity. Our journey brings us to the Low Camp, where we are treated to a breathtaking view of Mt. Machapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) up the valley. In the evening, we can immerse ourselves in the local way of life.
We continue ascends as we follow the edge towards Mardi and Machhapuchre Himal. The dense forest begins to thin out, occasionally found the bushes of rhododendron flower along the trail. If we're fortunate, we might even spot the Daphne pheasant, Nepal's national bird, on our way to the High Camp. Today’s journey ends at the High Camp, where the mountain vistas are truly breathtaking.
On our trek to the upper viewpoint, we’ll have ascend and descend trail, sometimes on a steep and narrow trail. We hike along a narrow ridge through pastures before reaching the Upper Viewpoint. The view of the Himalayan vista from here is astonishing. From this vantage point, we can see Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Tent Peak (5695m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machapuchhre (6993m), and others. After enjoying the breathtaking view, we trek back to the high camp for an overnight stay.
After reaching the high camp, we’ve option for a unique path that leads us to Sidhing instead of retracing our steps to Mardi Himal. This alternative route adds an element of novelty to our trek, making it all the more exhilarating. Siddhing provides a tranquil retreat for trekkers, far away from the more crowded trails.
Following an early breakfast, we set out on a walk towards Lumre, eventually reaching the road where we commence our journey by road to Pokhara. Upon reaching the city, we continue our drive to the domestic airport, where we catch a flight back to Kathmandu. A representative from AAN will be waiting to pick us up at the airport and transfer us to our hotel. After some well-deserved rest and freshening up, the evening is reserved for a farewell dinner, marking the joyous conclusion of our Mardi Himal Trek. We spend the night in Kathmandu.
Today we say goodbye to Nepal, marking the end of our unforgettable journey.
