Upon landing at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, a friendly representative from AAN will be there to welcome us and provide convenient transportation to our hotel. After settling in, take some time to relax or explore around hotel. Later in the evening, indulge in a warm welcome dinner hosted by AAN. Immerse yourself in the rich flavors of authentic Nepalese cuisine, offering a delightful introduction to the country's diverse food culture.
Embark on a fascinating day of exploration in the Kathmandu Valley, starting in Patan, fondly nicknamed "The City of Fine Arts." Our first stop is Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site adorned with ancient palaces, temples, and shrines, renowned for their intricate carvings. Continuing our journey, we venture to Bhaktapur, a city that has gracefully preserved its ancient allure. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site, awaits our exploration, showcasing the historical richness of the region. Embark on a breathtaking hour-long trans-Himalayan flight to Lhasa, Tibet, during the early morning hours. As we soar through the sky, the flight offers awe-inspiring views of majestic peaks such as Everest (8,848m) and Kanchenjunga (8,536m), along with other Himalayan wonders like glaciers. Upon reaching Lhasa, a representative from AAN will warmly welcome us at the airport, providing transportation for an approximately one-hour drive to our designated hotel in Lhasa. It is recommended to prioritize ample rest for the remainder of the day to acclimatize and minimize the effects of altitude sickness.Overnight stay in Lhasa.
Explore Lhasa's cultural gems today, starting with the 17th-century marvel, Potala Palace. Offering panoramic views of the city, the palace features the Dalai Lama's private quarters, elaborate state rooms, and sacred chapels. Sera Monastery, adorned with white-washed walls and golden roofs, awaits our visit as a well-preserved Tibetan monastery. Delve into the profound mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism at Jokhang Temple, another significant sacred site. After breakfast, our journey takes us to Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city. Driving through the picturesque landscapes, we traverse the Khamba La Pass (4,794m), offering stunning views of Yomdrok-Tso (Turquoise Lake) and the majestic Mt. Nazin Kang Sa (7,252m), one of Tibet's sacred peaks. Continuing westward, the Karo La Pass (5045m) treats us to breathtaking views of magnificent glaciers.An overnight stay in Shigatse completes the day's exploration.
Upon reaching Gyantse, we explore its cultural treasures, including the Khumbum Stupa, Phalkot Monastery, and the well-preserved Gyantse Dzong (fortress). The overnight stay in Rongbuk allows for further immersion in the unique atmosphere of this high-altitude region.
